In Glass Garden Bugs, participants will design and create two fused glass bugs, each featuring bendable wire legs that are layered between sheets of glass and melted into the design during firing. You’ll learn the basics of glass cutting, layering, and composition while working with colorful glass, frit, and stringers. The wire legs are carefully placed between layers of glass before firing, creating a sturdy, sculptural element that becomes part of the finished piece. No prior glass experience is needed. After class, your bugs will be kiln-fired and ready for pickup at Happy Valley City Hall at a later date. Finished pieces can be displayed in plants, gardens, or windowsills, adding a playful handmade touch wherever they land.
